Most of us are satisfied
With what we’ve got, our lot in life
And all that lies within our reach
Is good enough for us at least
That’s what we say
But treasures that are farther out
Or deeper in are often found
Way outside our comfort zone
So we stay inside the safe and known
Not temping fate
Most of us are well aware
That everybody falls

But a few rise up against the common place
Risk defeat, complete disgrace
Despite the odds they still embrace
The search for love, the fight of faith
For the joy, the dream, the hunt, the chase
Or just to find some breathing space
And when life slaps them in the face
And says enough’s enough
A few rise up

I found myself in situations
Held back by lack of firm foundations
I didn’t build along the road
And now I find that I am going
Where I’ve always gone
But when I look around and see
That I am not along

A few rise up against the common place
